About the editors

Mary Yardley took over as editor in March 2023. As a qualified librarian, Mary has many years' experience of working in public libraries and Schools Library Services as well as a school and college librarian. Her long association as editor of the Who Else sister website, www.whonextguide.com, means she is well placed to take over as editor of Who Else.

Ian Baillie was editor of Who Else Writes Like…? from 2012-2023. In 2010 Ian took early retirement after 40 years as a librarian working in public libraries. He began his career as a mobile librarian in the spectacular countryside around Loch Lomond, briefly worked as reference librarian in Clydebank Library, and then spent 20 enjoyable years as stock editor, again in Clydebank Library. For Ian's final 14 years he was Senior Officer with West Dunbartonshire Libraries. Ian acted as an adviser from the very first edition of the book, Who Else Writes Like...?, and was delighted to be able to continue the association in the role of editor until he stepped down in February 2023. Sadly Ian has since passed away and the staff at Fiction Explorer Ltd wish to express their heart felt gratitude to Ian for his commitment to Who Else over the years, he was an expert in his field and his contribution will be greatly missed.  

Roy and Jeanne Huse were editors of Who Else Writes Like…? from 1993-2012. Roy had 40 years’ experience of public library work and was County Librarian of West Sussex 1970-92. Jeanne has worked since 1954 in public, special and college libraries and was Librarian of the English-Speaking Union 1977-1991 and latterly worked as a part-time archivist until mid 2013.
